Going Places Where Others Fear To Travel
From mountain tracks to urban battlefields, HALO works in some of the most inhospitable and remote places on Earth. Every day our 9,000 local deminers travel across challenging terrain to find and destroy the landmines and explosives that threaten lives and livelihoods. To ensure they can reach communities surrounded by minefields, our teams need a fleet of 4x4 vehicles they can rely on to keep them safe and get the job done.
HALO is excited to become the official development partner for INEOS Automotive for the uncompromising Grenadier 4x4 vehicle. Using our insight from over 30 years of going where others fear to travel, we will collaborate with the Grenadier’s engineering teams to help design a rugged, dependable off-roader for modern users.
Rising to the challenge
INEOS began working with HALO in 2019. The Grenadier engineering team wanted to see first-hand the conditions and terrain tackled by HALO’s 600 4x4s. They witnessed HALO’s vehicles negotiating some of the worst roads in Africa during the rainy season and saw how we manage one of the largest 4x4 fleets in Angola. That initial insight has contributed to shaping the design and performance targets for the Grenadier.
Since 1988, HALO has destroyed over 13.9 million landmines and items of unexploded ordnance. Today we continue to work to make land safe where war has ended, whilst also assisting those affected by active conflict and endemic violence. To ensure we can meet the challenges of the 21st Century we need a fleet fit for war zones, rainforests and deserts that allow us to get the job done. As the partnership grows, INEOS aims to develop a fleet of bespoke Grenadiers for HALO with features specific to our operational needs. These include anchor points to fit protective mine-proof belly armour and safe storage for mine clearance tools. They will also need to be easily convertible as back-up ambulances.
