Charlie Henshall who raised over $3,000 for the HALO Trust
Runner Charlie Henshall of Madison, NJ was motivated to complete the Marine Corps Marathon for HALO after his daughter Meghan Henshall, a 2012 Kenyon College graduate and Community Health Education Volunteer with the US Peace Corps working and serving in Cambodia, told him about HALO’s great work in her adopted country. While Charlie was training for his challenge, his daughter Meghan visited HALO Cambodia’s headquarters in Siem Reap to learn more. Meghan Henshall shared on her blog, “…This coming Sunday, the 27th, my Dad will get up and run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. while I eat dinner with my host family and the sun slowly sets and the stars come out. He is running for a better, safer tomorrow, for people in a country halfway around the world; a tomorrow that will come sooner than it seems.” Charlie finished the marathon in 4:18:15 and has raised $3,083 of his $3,000 goal.
HALO has been an official charity partner of the Marine Corps Marathon for three consecutive years now, as well as the San Francisco Marathon. 46 runners have raised over $30,000 in support of HALO’s mission, “getting mines out of the ground, for good”
