As the official development partner of the INEOS Grenadier 4x4, HALO has been collaborating with the Grenadier engineering team since 2019. Using our insights from operating in some of the most challenging environments on the planet, we are helping shape the #BuiltOnPurpose, rugged and dependable off-roader.
In September, it was time to put the Grenadier prototype through its paces as it visited an active HALO programme in Kosovo. We tested the Grenadier through the mountains to the minefields—where our teams are working to clear the landmines and cluster munitions that threaten lives and livelihoods.
Partnering to go where others fear to travel
HALO has worked in Kosovo since 1999. Today the majority of our operations take place in the mountains along the Albanian border. The land here is a vital source of income for local families. They use it to graze livestock and collect firewood to survive the harsh winter months but the presence of landmines and cluster munitions poses a lethal threat.
The high altitudes and rocky terrain present a constant challenge—the perfect testing ground for the Grenadier.
The Grenadier on test:
Total altitude: 4,490 m
Off road: 50%
Terrain: rock, road, gravel, mud
Built on Purpose
The HALO team was excited to see the Grenadier's capabilities as it was put through its paces, taking on routes that are impassable with some of our current fleet.
Saving lives
From Kosovo to Colombia, Afghanistan to Iraq, the ability to reach remote locations or travel across difficult terrain is fundamental to our work. We need to know we have a reliable vehicle fleet to get the job done. It is therefore extremely valuable for HALO to be part of the testing programme for the Grenadier 4x4.
